From Gilgamesh to Beowulf – 5,000 years of epic in five hours with poets Jane Draycott and Jenny Lewis

From the 2,700 BC, Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh to the 800 AD, Anglo-Saxon Beowulf – trace the journey of epic and respond to its universal themes with your own poetry in these two creative writing workshops led by Jenny Lewis (Gilgamesh, 10.00-12.30) and Jane Draycott (Beowulf, 1.30-4.00) with a break for lunch.

You may bring a packed lunch to eat in the workshop room or use the Ashmolean cafe. The workshops will be followed by a group reading of poems created in the workshops, led by Jane and Jenny, from 4.00-5.00pm.

Workshops can be booked together or separately, £15 per workshop.
