I teach poetry on the Oxford University Creative Writing Master of Studies, Undergraduate Diploma and Weekly Classes. I also run private classes, Day Schools and tutorials and am available to run other workshops and seminars.
I feel privileged to teach an extraordinary range of highly gifted and highly committed students, many of whom are winning prizes and being published by leading journals and publishing houses. The excitement of being part of the process of growth and development of a student’s practice as a poet is one of the most rewarding aspects of my life. Many of my students will, I’m sure, achieve great things. Just to have poetry in their lives (and souls) is the most important thing. It’s a wonderful moment to find a line which we both feel expresses who they are, their own voice, their own subjective and linguistic territory. Those lines turn into poems, then into collections.
