– working with the ground breaking, community action-based Mandala Theatre Company

During 2024-2025 I worked with Oxford-based Mandala Theatre Company, a physical theatre touring company that explores themes of racial equality and social justice, founded and run by Yasmin Sidhwa. Yasmin’s play, Seed Guardians, touched on food poverty and global food sovereignty, and included music, dance sequences and a set of specially commissioned poems by myself. During the development and writing of the play, we worked with many groups in the community, including food hubs (running food banks), refugees and asylum seekers, and green energy organisations. The play premiered at the North Wall Theatre in October 2024 then had an extended tour. It won a Joseph Rowntree Award.
